Feeding Fire: Children’s Book

Learn how fire came into the possession of man. A story of nature, friendship, bears, and man. This children’s book illuminates the creation story from the Alabama-Creek Tribe with a playful and modern illustration style.

A lot of planning, experimentation, and trial and error occured behind the scenes for this project. To develop a unique and playful style, I had to study bears and fire, draw them over and over again, thinking less literally and more figuratively, until I landed the style of the book. Storyboarding helped to pace out the story, and the illustrations. These are just some examples of the progress that happens behind the scenes of design.
