the art of japanese woodblock printmaking: Ar book

The Art of Japanese Woodblock Printmaking is an augmented reality book, created for my Hybrid Design class. It utilizes the mobile app Artivive, in which readers can use their phones to interact with the readings, and access videos and animations. The minimal and elegant style of the book celebrates the history and artists from the Edo Period and the processes behind Ukiyo-e masterpieces.

Instructor: Scott Laserow

This AR video gives readers insight into the captivating art form of Kabuki theater, whose actors were often the subjects of prints during the Edo Era.

This AR Video demonstrates the Kentou registration system. This technique enables printers to create multi-layered prints.
